The Global Fund for Children
is a wonderful force for good in the world. Our
longtime charity partner, the GFC works with local nonprofit organizations to advance the dignity of children and young people around the world.
Since 1997, the GFC has invested nearly $31 million in more than 575 grassroots organizations in 78 countries, helping transform the lives of 9 million of the world’s most vulnerable children.
At Tea, we believe in and wholeheartedly support their mission. Our support takes a variety of forms…
- On a selected Thursday each month, Tea holds a Global Giving Thursday. We match every single donation given to the Global Fund for Children through our site on this day. (You can choose to donate when you check out).
- Each year we design several exclusive (and adorable) pajama sets that we sell around the winter holidays. We donate all proceeds from the sale of these PJs directly to the Global Fund for Children.
- We also hold regular Give Back events throughout the year, during which we donate a portion of all our online sales to the GFC.
Spotlight On MASOOM In Mumbai, India
This season, we’re celebrating the things that connect us all. We want to show kids that no matter where we live or what language we speak, we all care about the same things. We are partnering with the Global Fund for Children to break down barriers and open minds.
This month we feature Masoom in Mumbai, India.
Despite the current economic boom in India, many of the country’s youths lack the skills and training needed for gainful employment. And in the state of Maharashtra, up to 40,000 students – who are among the countries poorest –work all day before attending night school. Unfortunately, the government has placed little priority on improving the quality and infrastructure of these schools, and only 3 percent of students leave adequately prepared to find a good job.
Masoom is the first organization dedicated to improving educational standards in Maharashtra’s night schools. Its transformative model works in three core areas. First, Masoom provides each night school with educational materials and programs—from textbooks and mobile science labs to sports activities and nutritional supplements. Next, teachers attend workshops to build skills, while students receive career counseling and vocational training. Finally, Masoom actively advocates for this often forgotten population of youth, encouraging the government to take more responsibility for the night schools.
When you make a purchase this month, consider adding a donation for the children in Pisac. Even a little bit of love will go a long way. Learn more about Masoom
