One of the things we love about our clothes here at Tea is our commitment to cotton. Soft, cozy, stretchy for running and jumping, easy to wash and long-lasting, cotton is in every item we make. One type of cotton fabric we’re celebrating this season is our slub jersey:
Slub is made through weaving uneven threads of yarn into fabric. Called “slubs”, each bump in the yarn was historically viewed as a mistake when hand weaving yarn, but today slub has become an intentional modern aesthetic. At Tea we love slub fabric for its subtle texture and lightweight summery feel.
April 7th was Bike to School Day in San Francisco. Thousands of kids of all ages rode to school with their parents and teachers, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions, encouraging daily exercise, and to have fun! More than 40 schools participated, making it the largest city-wide Bike to School Day yet.
We love that this is a yearly tradition in San Francisco, and although we’re not in school anymore, Tea is looking forward to Bike to Work Day on May 12th.
We spent the day in the whitewashed coastal Catalan town of Cadaqués, Spain, taking in the spirit of the resort’s brilliantly beautiful seaside scenes and warm, clear air. It was even a bit surreal, did we just spot Salvador Dali watching the sailboat races? Maybe it was just a sign that we felt right at home in the St. Tropez of Spain.
Back in San Francisco, we created a summer collection in hues of blue with accents of white, light green and sunny yellow. You and your kids will love the throwback style of our nautical graphics, cabana stripes and pastel patterns. Vintage nautical silhouettes, graphics and patterns are lent mellow modern touches throughout the collection.
Our Catalonia tile theme continues unabated here with prints reflective of tiles found on the seaside houses of Cadaques. We’ve also infused a number of floral artwork pieces with a distinctively Catalonian painted pottery flavor.
Go coastal with us this summer. We can’t wait to see you. And definitely bring your kids.
For our Costa Brava collection we were inspired by the colors and icons of Cadaqués – a coastal fishing village in Catalonia. The town had a distinctive color palette of whites, blues and sunny yellows – which we used to create fun summery pieces. We love the vintage nautical feel, which inspired the silhouettes and graphics of the season.
At Tea we are all about bringing the world home. Each season we visit a different global destination, and share our inspiration and the stories of our travels. We are appreciative of the beauty we find and the countries we explore. We’re cultural adventurists, apparel designers and global travelers. We believe in the journey. In discovery. In caring and connection. In diving in. In experiencing life with every bit of our souls. We go there. Across the globe. And across the street.
And now we want to hear about YOUR adventures. We’re on the hunt for three Foreign Correspondents to share their experiences with us on our blog Studio T, between now and the end of the year.
If you and your children are traveling internationally in the near future, write to us! Email firstname.lastname@example.org and describe the trip you’re planning on taking. Tell us:
– Where you are going, and for how long
– What the purpose of your trip is – is it to experience a specific culture, reconnect with family roots, or do community service?
– How you plan on maximizing your travel experience with your children along the way
Before you leave we’ll give you a $500 Gift Certificate to fill your suitcase with travel clothes from Tea.
Once you return, share your stories and photographs of the people you’ve met, the food you ate, the fashion you saw, and the landscapes you explored. Bring the world to us. Write five blog posts on or shortly after your trip with accompanying photos or short videos detailing your adventures. We’ll devote a week of our blog to showcasing the story of your travels.
We will review all submissions. Please recognize that we may get numerous submissions, which makes it difficult for us to respond to everyone individually. We can respond only to the submissions that we’re considering featuring. Thank you for sharing. Happy writing. And happy traveling!
Ever since I saw that you could design your own skateboard I’ve been dying to make one, but unfortunately I don’t actually skateboard. With our Skate theme this week I jumped at the opportunity to sketch out some ideas. I played around putting some of our Barcelona T-shirt graphics on some skateboards. I would have loved to do this as a kid! Let your kid design their own here. The skateboards are locally sourced American maple and printed in California! Maybe its time to take up skateboarding…
(We’ve decided to post ours for sale over at Zazzle in case people were interested. For a limited time only!)
